Simplicity Series: Nude Eyes + Vampy Lips

Here’s another simple look using only one eyeshadow! This is great for those of you who want to rock a bold lip without having to worry too much about the eyes. A simple flesh-toned eyeshadow would do.

Lorac Pro 2 Palette Swatches

I was so happy to buy this palette! As soon as I laid eyes on the Navy and Jade colors, I knew this palette had to be mine. This palette comes in 16 cool toned eyeshadow shades (8 matte shades + 8 shimmer shades). The texture of these eyeshadows is buttery smooth. They have an incredibly soft feel, and they remind me of the soft texture of Tarte eyeshadows. I was very impressed with the high pigmentation of this palette as well. Two thumbs up from me!

Simplicity Series: Daytime Bronze

This is a very simple look utilizing only a cream eyeshadow + eyeliner to smudge. MAC Indianwood Paint Pot is one of my favorite eyeshadows. It’s very easy to use and works with just about any skintone. I applied it using a fluffy MAC 217 brush. The trick is to concentrate the color on the lid while fading it upward into the crease. I then applied a brown eyeliner on the lid near the upper lashline and smudged with a pencil brush, MAC 219. I smudged the brown eyeliner on the lower lashline as well. I then applied a white eye pencil to the waterline and topped off the look with black mascara. Simple!

P.S. – I am deeply tanned at the moment due to all of the regular swimming I’ve been doing lately, so please excuse my splotchy tan, lol.

New Blog Series: “Simplicity” – Because Makeup Doesn’t Have to be Complicated

Hey y’all! So I know it’s been a minute since I’ve last posted a look. Forgive me! I have quite a few makeup look ideas stored in my head, and I can’t wait to share them with you!

Starting off, I’d like to begin a new “Simplicity” series in my blog. My point of this is that I don’t want for anyone to move away from the fact that makeup really doesn’t have to be that complicated. Everyone at every level should be able to master something, even if it’s a clean, simple look. Nowadays it may seem that to have your makeup done correctly, it has to be “Beat to the Gods.” That may come off intimidating to those who only prefer simple, basic looks. I feel that it’s important to remember that simple, basic makeup is still makeup too! As far as eyeshadow looks in this series, I won’t use more than 2 (ok, maybe 3! Lol, but ONLY if necessary to blend something out) eyeshadows for one look. I would also like to include more looks that involve simple color – for instance, a wash of purple on the lid – nothing too complicated. This would be a challenge for me as well given that I am no stranger to using AT LEAST 4-5 eyeshadows for one look.

I’ve always typically kept my highlighting/contouring regimen pretty simple given that I primarily use powder for those due to ease of use and I can quickly get it done. There are highlighting/contouring techniques out there that involve more time and strategy (I’m sure most of you have seen it where the concealer/foundation are placed on the face in a geometrical fashion prior to blending), but you won’t have to worry about me making this complicated for you! Simplicity will be key! I’m really looking forward to this!

If there are any particular looks that you would like to see, leave a comment below!

Sephora Cream Lip Stain Swatches

For the past year, my favorite lip products have been velvety, matte lip stains. I love when I find a brand that provides a smooth, creamy lip stain application that stays put throughout the day. Sephora’s brand of Cream Lip Stains are no exception, for they provide exactly what I’m looking for in a liquid lip color.

Sephora says:

A lip stain that provides beautiful, long-lasting color. This high-coverage lip product features avocado oil for a texture that transforms as you wear it: when applied, the initial cream texture becomes a silky, lightweight stain. Lips achieve stunning color and feel soft and comfortable. Available in an array of rich shades, including both matte and satin finishes, with intense color that stays put.

You really can’t go wrong with these lip stains. They have such a smooth application with rich color payoff. I can get a good 6-7 hours of wear out of these, with the exception being that if I eat anything oily I risk the color slightly fading in the center of my lips. It’s nothing that a quick touchup can’t fix, but it’s still good to take note of it. I just have to add that the color Endless Purple is absolutely GORGEOUS! I have yet to see this color not look good on anyone. There are a total of 10 shades you can pick from, and they are currently $13 a pop. Below, the three colors I own have a matte finish.

Milani Color Statement Lipsticks

What Milani says:
Make a statement without saying a word! True Instant Color. One stroke, full coverage application. This next generation lipstick gives the ultimate in color, texture and finish. The lightweight creamy formula contains Vitamins A, C, & E to moisturize and nourish lips. Paraben-free. Available in Vinyl, Metallic, Cream, Shimmer, Pearl & Matte finish.

Here are swatches of several of the Milani Color Statement Lipsticks. I typically buy these when they’re BOGO 50% off at CVS. There’s not too much else to say other than these are great drugstore lipsticks that come in a decent range of colors. The colors Rose Femme and Teddy Bare really surprised me, as I was not expecting to like them as much on myself as the other colors. I believe those 2 colors would look great on WOC of darker complexions as well. The color Naturally Chic is a true nude for me, for it matches my lips perfectly. If you like MAC’s popular Rebel lipstick, then Milani Sangria would be a cheaper alternative. All of the swatched lipsticks are well pigmented and showed up with one swipe with the exception of Sangria which needed 2 swipes. As far as scent, they all smell like candy! I know some people are sensitive to scents, but the sweet candy scent doesn’t bother me.
