Wet ‘N Wild MegaLast Lipsticks part 1

I have to start off by saying that Wet ‘N Wild has surely stepped up their game with these lipsticks! I’m very excited to share this review with you! This will be a two-part post!

What Wet ‘N Wild says:
“Lips take center stage! This 4-hour, longwearing lip color leaves a semi-matte, crème finish in one stroke. Glides on easily with rich, velvety color that doesn’t cake, feather, or bleed. Made with hydrating skin-care ingredients.”

First and foremost, you cannot beat the price of these lipsticks! Depending on where you buy them, they can be anywhere between $1.99-2.99. The best part is if you buy them from a drugstore (think CVS or Walgreens), you can catch them during a BOGO 50% off sale! Needless to say, that’s how I racked up on them. These lipsticks are very pigmented! The swatches in the pics were all done with one swipe! They are not totally matte, as they have more of a satin finish. I would like to note that I have not experienced any dryness with these lipsticks. They do live up to the claim of lasting 4 hours. They could actually last longer if you eat your food gently while wearing them. There are about 26 colors to choose from; unfortunately, not all colors are sold where Wet ‘N Wild products are sold. I’ve noticed more colors on Wet ‘N Wild’s website that you can order (via Drugstore.com). I highly encourage you to try these lipsticks! Based on price alone, what do you have to lose?!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks

Allow me to introduce you to this wonderful lip product!

What Stila says:

“A creamy-matte, full-coverage lip color that delivers bold, long-lasting color and stays in place for up to 6 hours of continuous wear. The texture is weightless on lips and delivers superb comfort and its color-rich formula will not bleed or transfer. Enriched with Vitamin E and avocado oil, Stay All Day® Liquid Lipstick softens the lips so they look and feel beautiful!”

I am a huge fan of these lip colors as they do live up to the 6 hour claim! They aren’t drying at all, and I love the matte finish. They also don’t flake! They are pigmented; however, out of the colors I own, a few are more pigmented than others. I’ve found that Fiore and Patina may need an additional coat to make it truly opaque. In terms of application, a little goes a long way since more product than needed usually ends up on the applicator after removing the wand from the tube. I usually don’t bother wearing any other lip product with these, but if you choose to then keep in mind that they dry fairly quickly. Although these lip colors do live up to the 6 hour claim, be cautious when eating oily foods. I’ve worn these when eating foods such as a burger or pasta and the lip color started to fade slightly in the center of the lips because of the oil (since oil dissolves makeup).

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks retail for $22 each and can be purchased from Sephora, Ulta, or the Stila Cosmetics website. There are a total of 10 lovely colors from which you can choose!

FOTD: Rose Eyes + Berry Lips

I’ve been neglecting use of my MAC pigments (with the exception of Vanilla pigment), so I thought I’d bring out MAC’s Rose pigment. Unfortunately, this pigment had lots of fall-out even after using the foiling method, so please excuse the pigment adhering to my lashes 🙂

Note: Foiling is a method used when applying pigments wet. Spritzing your brush with water/rosewater/mixing medium prior to applying a loose pigment will allow for the color to apply more vibrant and intense.

Grayscale Makeup

I know, I know!  I’m several months early for Halloween, but I couldn’t help myself.  I felt the makeup fairy tap me with her wand, so I got to working.  Here’s a look I did to mimic a black & white photo without it actually being a black & white photo.  It’s all makeup!  I took pics with my hands in view to purposely show that it’s makeup and not a black & white photo. I used Ben Nye Creme Colors for this look.  Eyeshadows used were from a holiday Tarte palette that came out a few years ago. I don’t think I did too bad my 1st time, but I will definitely practice this look again in the future so that I can improve my application technique.

NOTE: When painting your entire face, it’s very important to add dimension to it by highlighting and shading. Merely putting paint on your face would look like just that…paint on your face. However, when you add shading, it turns your face from being flat to more 3D (like our real faces).

FOTD: A Night On The Town

One of the reasons I love Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation is because it literally lasts through everything! I applied it at 9:00pm, and after a long night of fun my foundation was still flawless when I got home at 6:00am.

Welcome to My Blog!

It’s been a long time coming, but after much encouragement from family and friends, I’ve finally decided to start a beauty blog! See, I have this strong obsession love for all things beauty, so I guess it was only right. With this blog, my plan is to share my various FOTDs (Face of Today), makeup and skincare tips, my favorite products, and even dabble in a little bit of hair talk. I also hope for this blog to be another avenue for women of color (WOC) to find inspiration. I highly encourage readers to comment, leave feedback, and reach out to me via email for questions or even just to say hello.
